- Can you mail me a catalog, newsletter or brochure?
The Simple Living Network is virtually paperless. The only thing we print is a receipt to mail with your Bookstore order. As part of our commitment to sustainable, earth-friendly commerce we do not produce a printed catalog, printed newsletter or junk mail of any kind. Our catalog and newsletter are available for free on this website.

There is nothing to join! We are not a membership organization. We are simply a website that offers a variety user supported services (see the main menu at the top of this page) and a Simple Living Bookstore.
If you like what you find here and have the ability, we encourage you to contribute to our user supported services by becoming a CyberAngel or by sharing this website with your friends and family. This website would not exist without your voluntary support.

We purposely operate as a for-profit corporation to model sustainable, earth-friendly small business practices. We believe that to be successful long-term we must operate through self-funding.
Our user supported services (see the main menu at the top of this page) are financed without government, industry or foundation funding of any kind so that we may remain a stable and independent voice — free from the bureaucratic constraints that often come with the nonprofit, perpetual fundraising structure.
This mode of operation allows us the freedom to respond quickly to rapidly changing Internet, market and societal conditions. Our path is one of thoughtful, consistent growth, flexibility and longevity.
We are supported solely by modest Bookstore sales and voluntary CyberAngel contributions from visitors like you who enjoy our offerings.
Since The Simple Living Network is a for-profit, Chapter S Corporation, CyberAngel contributions are not tax deductible.
• Close This • Close All - Come on! This is nothing more than a store trying to make a buck off the simplicity movement. What gives?
We sometimes hear the comment or criticism that The Simple Living Network is "nothing more than a bookstore trying to make a buck off of the simplicity movement...."
Nothing could be further from the truth!
We have struggled a great deal with whether to offer anything for sale at all or if we should accept credit cards. After much thought, as a community service, and for the reasons below, we have decided to make the items you read about on our website available for purchase.
If you decide to purchase a product through our Bookstore, you are directly supporting an independent cottage business. Our staff consists of one full-time employee and a few dedicated part-time assistants and volunteers. Our continuation depends entirely upon the sale of materials through our Bookstore and small CyberAngel contributions from folks just like you. This website would not exist without your voluntary support.
How you spend your money
is how you vote on what exists. We encourage you to check your local library for the books featured on our website. If your library doesn't have what you're looking for, we have everything in stock and are happy to fill your order. If you choose to make a purchase elsewhere, we encourage you to shop locally at a small, privately bookstore. You may be able to find some items at discounted prices from large book chains or discount houses on the Internet. However, please consider the social and environmental ramifications before making a purchase from these large corporate sources.
The income generated through Bookstore sales and CyberAngel contributions goes directly toward the maintenance and growth of this website. When possible, we cut out the "middle men and women" and purchase products directly from the nonprofit organizations, authors and small manufacturers who produce them so a larger share of the profit goes toward their growth.
• Close This • Close All - Why do I have to pay to read all of these books?
It has been suggested that we should simply post the entire contents of all the resources in our Bookstore for free. A wonderful idea in theory. Unfortunately, that is impossible because The Simple Living Network does not own the copyright on most of the resources we recommend and highlight. Republishing would be in violation of International and Pan-American Copyright and Trademark Conventions and would deny those who went to the trouble of creating them their due compensation. For more information see Copyright and Trademarks.
• Close This • Close All - How do I list my products or services on The Simple Living Network?
If you believe you have a product or service that directly supports, encourages or teaches simple living, voluntary simplicity or earth-friendly living, please Contact Us to test our interest.
Please do not send us unsolicited samples of your products or add us to your promotional mailing lists with out asking first.
