Simple Living Classics

From time to time we like to reprint "older" articles that we feel helped shape the "simplicity movement" of today. . . .

In 1996, the League of Women Voters commissioned The New Road Map Foundation (the folks behind Your Money Or Your Life) to write a white paper on consumption as it relates to the future of the earth. The resulting work, From "Excess" To "Enough", outlines the hidden social and environmental costs of North American patterns and levels of consumption, reveals the generating causes of the problem and suggests directions to look for solutions. Finally, it describes some features of a low-consumption, high-fulfillment society.

This is a PDF file download. It may take a few minutes if you have a slow internet connection. You will also need the Acrobat® Reader® to view this file.

About The Author

Vicki Robin is coauthor with Joe Dominguez of the national best-seller, Your Money Or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship With Money & Achieving Financial Independence, available now in nine languages. Vicki is President of the Seattle-based New Road Map Foundation, an educational and charitable foundation teaching people tools for sustainable living.

Inspired by years of experience in communication and dialogue skills -- and by the challenge to democracy, ecological sustainability and social justice represented by the 9/11 crisis -- Vicki created and took responsibility for spreading Conversation Cafes throughout Seattle -- and the world. Conversation Cafes are hosted conversations among diverse people in public places on subjects that matter.
