Hi everyone! My name is Lindsay. I'm new to this site and new to the idea of simplicity. My husband and I are eager to start a simplified life, but we have a long way to go. I'm excited to give such a lifestyle to my 7 month old daughter, Finley. I am 27, married, have two step childen and my daughter and we live in the midwest. We currently have our house up for sale so we can find a smaller house with land so we can become sustainable and have a small farm. I'm looking forward to reading posts on here and have that sense of community and support.

Welcome, FinleysMama!

As questions sprout, ask in the likeliest forum. You'll find plenty of wisdom and knowledge to tap. What we ask of you, you're already expecting from us -- be civil, be respectful, and be helpful. The usual neighborly approach for us who grew up or live in the Midwest ....

Welcome, FinleysMama.

Are you looking to stay in IL or looking out of state? There is farmland in the U.P. and very reasonable. Nearby, there is a house on 20 acres with sauna and polebarn and workshop (both connected to power). It sits on a deadend road and is a maintained county road. Bus turnaround right there. They sold the other 20 acres as no one wanted 40 acres. Currently going for $89,000 through Select Realty or going to auction (if they accept price at auction). Reason for leave is that the male has had some health issues and looking to relocate to AZ. The house is 3 bdrm, 2 bath. It is on Kallio Rd. in Trenary (if you want to look or check with the realtor).

It is beautiful up here - 4 seasons and lots of lakes surround this area. Good hunting and fishing.

Joseph, I will be nothing but respectful... and yes it comes from growing up in the midwest! Debi, We are looking for a farm near the fox cities in Wisconsin, the Appleton-Oshkosh area. I grew up there and after the new baby would love to be near family.

FinleysMama, I understand wanting to be near family. Good luck in finding something you can turn to your advantage.
