| my DD's have been puking for 48 hours. We made it through last night without puking, but it started again this am. I am giving them pedialyte or water (small amounts), pedialyte popsicles, toast cut into small squares and a tea with ginger and peppermint to soothe their tummies. Also, they're getting tylenol b/c of fever. Any other recommendations? I offered a heating pad to put on their tummies - neither wanted it. Their lips are dry, but their mouths seem moist still, so I don't think they are dangerously dehydrated... but they are sleeping so much, I wonder if they are ok? All my training/knowledge tells me all is well and to ride the storm... but I just feel SO BAD that they are so sick. Any helpful hints or ideas would be very welcome. |

Poor babies! I have no suggestions. You have far more medical training than me, but I wanted to offer sympathy. It's hard to see the little ones feeling so icky.
Sleeping is probably the best thing for them right now. |

When I have doubts, I call my pediatrician. They know what's going around, and what the progression is. There's also the possibility of food-borne illness, unless you're confident it's viral. Especially going into a weekend, I'd call now. Nothing worse than going into a weekend unsure, the doc's office is closed, and agonizing over whether to make a trip to the ER or not.

| Call your dr of course. But, I would stop trying to feed them until they stop throwing up. Then follow the BRAT (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast) diet. Small sips of water as much as they will drink. |

Not to sound standoffish here, but everything isn't okay. Make a call. |

| I called Dr yesterday right before closing... she said to do all the things I am already doing. I am pretty sure it's not food bourne, but I guess no one can be absolutely positive. Both are urinating and drinking. No puking since 9am. Grace even ate some yogurt (for probiotics) around lunch time. Grace's diarrhea has stopped (pretty sure). We are doing BRATY (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, yogurt - per Dr. Sears). I will check in with pediatrician again to be sure, but we may be out of the woods??? I hope! I only fed them as they asked... sticking to above diet. |

| Um....they've been vomiting for 48 hours and have a fever = call the doctor, now! If you feel so bad they're sick, then call the doctor. This is a no-brainer to me. |

| Amy25. Glad to hear much of the signs and symptoms are residing. If by tomorrow (day three) things haven't corrected themselves full circle, seek medical attention. |

Calling the dr is a no-brainer to me, too. I had done that. It is just so hard to see such their little bodies throwing up and to see your usually bubbly, happy, energetic girls feeling so sick. I was really just seeking other ideas to asuage their symptoms.
Even though I have a doctorate in pharmacy and have clinical training, it is still hard and is different when it's your own child(ren) that are sick. That is why I felt bad. I was looking for helpful natural remedies (ie, the peppermint/ginger tea), in which i, admittedly, have very little training and must glean from others (or any other ideas for that matter).
My little Grace must be feeling better; as I type she is now up and outside enjoying a bit of sunshine in the backyard. I am SO glad. This was really our first illness of this type and it seemed to last forever, although it's been only slightly over 2 days. |

Poor little kiddies...when I saw my 3 yr DS trying to play with his cars and then crashed to the ground, holding his owwie ear, and begged me to stop the pain!....it's just SO hard I understand. It was an ear ache and went away, no drugs.
Pedialyte is my friend as a mom. I actually use generic and never had a problem... |

Did they have any diarrhea with it Amy? Do you think it might have been something they ate? Hopefully they're on the mend. You're right.......its very hard to see our little ones sick. |
