I am excited to find so many people interested in simplicity. I live out by the Denver Airport and have lived both simply and way too "complicated"! And without the wisdom from so many thoughtful people and books I think I would be even more overwhelmed now than I am. Being a grandmother is so awesome and I will be heading to Maine to my hometown with my children and grandchildren at the end of the month for a vacation. My life is rich in so many ways, but after 25 plus years of downsizing I do see that for me it is really a journey, not a destination. I have facilitated several simplicity groups over the years and even lived for 14 months kind of on the road as a house/pet sitter. Finding the balance seems to be my biggest challenge. How fun to read all your snipets. Thank you, they make me feel peaceful.

Welcome Sharon, you sound as though you've lots to contribute. Love to hear more about your on the road mobile pet/house-sitting adventures..I've been wanting to try that...have an offer to cat sit in France next year, but the airfare is daunting despite the free housing...

Meanwhile I've been doing some local pet-sitting, with the dogs staying in our home with us...

Hi Hoosiernan and HappyHiker,
Not sure how to reply to each of you individually, or maybe that's not the point. I am In a big nice home house/petsitting for the next three nights. During the day I will go to my other jobs. i found this gig through a friend and it pays well, but it is about an hours drive from where i live.
Thanks to you for your welcoming responses. It was nice to see when I got online that I had "messages".
So is there a particular button to click on to respond directly?

Click on one of the little pictures ("icons") above the post you want to reply to. The one with the envelope opens up a little window to send email to the poster. The one with the purple swooshy arrow sets up an area to type a reply that will be posted back to the forum.

Let your cursor rest atop ("hover over") an icon, and a little rectangle with text will often pop up and give you a hint as to what it handles.

Welcome to the fora here, and may you find yourself in good company!

Happy to see another grandparent joining in. Everywhere I go, I advocate for being a grandparent. Too bad there is no way around being a parent before becoming a grandparent.

Hi,
The New Good life came, by John Robbins. I got it used on Amazon and will pass it along to friends when I am done reading it. I had no idea he had been through so much financially. Scary to make a few more per cent on our money we could lose it all. I met a woman from the middle east when I was planning to work at an Islamic school and she told me her people did not believe in collecting interest. Have you heard that before?
